Restoration of electricity in Karachi is conditional on running water

Dozens of Karachi's populations, including Clifton and Defense, have been without power for 36 to 48 hours.

The management of K Electric has made the issue of double punishment for the citizens conditional on the drainage of standing rainwater in these areas.

The outrage of the citizens against this situation is increasing and the process of rounding up and forcing K-electric vehicles and staff in different settlements has started.

When a call is made to K Electric's call center for information, no one answers the call, but there is a recording that says, "Call only in case of death or extreme emergency due to electricity."

An attempt was made to speak to the spokesman's electrician but his mobile phone was found switched off.

Some other sources of K Electric said on condition of anonymity that the substations of K Electric have been flooded in most of the standing areas.

The areas to which power is supplied from these substations cannot be restored until water is drained from the substations.

According to the complaints received till 11 am today, several areas of Clifton, a posh area of ​​Karachi, have been without power since yesterday.

Many areas of Defense and adjoining slums were particularly affected by the power outage till this morning.

There is no power supply around Bath Island and Clifton Three Swords.

The power outage in Kharadar, Methadar, Aram Bagh, Saddar, Kemari, several areas of Lyari, Gulzar-e-Hijri, Saadi Town, Scheme 33, Abul Hassan Isfahani Road, Paradise Homes and surrounding areas of Old City Area is the second day.

Most areas of New Karachi, North Karachi, Surjani Town, Manghopir, Orangi Town, Quaidabad and Malir have been without electricity for several days.

Reports of power outages came from some areas of Quaidabad last night but the citizens remained in trouble due to low voltage.

Electricity could not be restored in many areas of Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

There are also complaints of power outages in Mahmoodabad, Manzoor Colony, Baloch Colony, Sher Shah, Hawks Bay Road and Mosquito Colony.

Soldier Bazaar, Garden East, Urdu Bazaar and some neighborhoods of Ranchhor Line have been without power for 40 hours.

Power has been restored in some areas of PECH Society after prolonged power outages but there is current of 57 to 58 volts.

According to the citizens, the batteries of the UPS have been depleted since the previous day. In most of the houses, the generators have been answered after running for a long time.

Many settlements are facing water shortages and power outages.

Citizens protested near Ayesha Bawani College on Faisal Street against the power outage. Angry people blocked both tracks of the road for traffic at Kala Pul.

Citizens of Mahmoodabad and Baloch Colony protested under the expressway bridge and suspended traffic.

Citizens without power in Garden East and Soldier Bazaar burned tires on the streets in protest.

Nazimabad, Gulbahar, Liaquatabad Post Office, Shah Faisal Colony, Korangi, Landhi, Sharifabad, Malir, Kala Board, Nusrat Bhutto Colony, Al-Falah, Hijrat Colony, Musharraf Colony, Gulshan-e-Hadid. ۔

Traffic on Hawks Bay Road was suspended due to protests by citizens under the Gulbai Bridge against power outages on Sher Shah, Maripur and Hawks Bay Roads.

According to the traffic police, other traffic is being diverted to alternative routes. The protesters include women, children and men who have staged a sit-in under the Gulbai Bridge.
