
Dozens of settlements, including Clifton and Defense in the posh area of Karachi, have been left without drainage of rainwater, as well as prolonged power outages have become a double whammy for the citizens. Citizens protested against prolonged power outages in most parts of the city, including Shara Faisal and Kala Pul.
Instead of listening to complaints, K Electric has put a recording of a call to its call center in case of death or emergency due to lightning only. Despite attempts to take time, the spokesman's electric mobile phone was found switched off.
According to the complaint received at 12 o'clock in the night, Clifton Blocks 5, 7, 2 and 1 of Posh area of Karachi are without power. The power outage in Clifton also includes the population around Bilawal House.
The areas of Defense Phase One, Phase 6, Khayaban Ittehad, Street 36 and Saba Avenue are particularly affected by the power outage.
Elsewhere, Bath Island and Clifton Three Swords have been without power since Wednesday and Thursday night.
On the other hand, there is no electricity in Kharadar area of Old City area. The population around Abdullah Haroon Road in Saddar is also without electricity.
Power supply to Karachi Press Club has been suspended for the last 40 hours. Kemari, Burns Road, Gulzar Hijri, Saadi Town, Scheme 33, Abul Hassan Isfahani Road, Paradise Homes and surrounding areas are without power.
Other areas of Karachi like Quaidabad and most of Malir have also been without electricity for several days. Reports of overnight power outages have started to be received in some areas of Quaidabad.
Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 5 and surrounding villages are also without electricity. There are also complaints of power outages from Gulistan-e-Jauhar. There are also complaints of power outages in Mahmoodabad, Manzoor Colony, Baloch Colony, Sher Shah, Hawks Bay Road and Mosquito Colony.
According to the citizens, the batteries of UPS have run out since last day. Generators in most homes have been answered after a long run. Many settlements are facing water shortages and power outages.
Citizens protested near Ayesha Bawani College on Faisal Street against the power outage and angry people blocked traffic, which was later restored by police.
Citizens protested against the power outage in Defense and surrounding settlements and reached Kalapul, where both routes to and from Defense were closed to traffic.
Citizens also blocked traffic under Gulbai Bridge in Sher Shah and surrounding settlements against the power outage.
Protests against the power outage in Mahmoodabad and Baloch Colony continued on the urban expressway. Angry people protested under the expressway bridge and later dispersed.
