
Two days have passed since the devastating rains in Karachi on Thursday. However, rain water is available in many areas but power supply is still suspended.
Power supply is also suspended in Clifton, Defense, Defense View Phase Two, Manzoor Colony, Surjani Town, Malir, Railway Police Line, FC Area, FB Area, Muslim Town, Pak Colony.
Protests were staged at several places in Karachi over prolonged power outages and lack of drainage, disrupting traffic, but the protests were later called off.
Concerned people took to the streets against the non-drainage of rainwater and power outages.
Citizens also protested on Ayesha Bawani School, Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 5, Kala Pul, Akhtar Colony Signal, Mahmoodabad and Baloch Colony on Faisal Road against the power outage.
Demonstrations also took place in Lasbela Chowk, Gul Bai Bridge, Lyari Expressway and Kharadar, but the protests were called off after talks with the police and assurances of restoration of power.
Power supply is still suspended in many areas of Clifton, Defense and Surjani Town, while FC Area, FB Area, Muslim Town and Pak Colony are completely without power.
According to a spokesman for Electric, power is being restored in the rain-affected areas.
The torrential rains and power outages have also severely damaged the infrastructure of mobile phone companies and PTCL.
